Biography

Regina is a Managing Partner at Wellington Partners and has been responsible for more than 25 investments, thereof 13 out of our WPLS-III, WPLS-IV and WPLS-V funds, five of which have already been realized via successful acquisitions of Themis by MSD in 2020, Rigontec by MSD in 2017, Middle Peak Medical by Symetis in 2017, Atopix Therapeutics by Chiesi in 2016, Sapiens by Medtronic in 2014, and Onward has recently IPOed on Euronext.

She represents the WPLS funds on the Boards of Carisma, ONWARD, Sidekick, SNIPR Biome and Stipe, is a member of the Advisory Council of KfW Capital, and served as the Spokesperson for the Board of the German PE and VC Association (BVK) from 2015 to 2020. Since joining the industry in 2000, she has become an influential investor in the European VC industry, focusing on early-stage and growth deals in the life science sector.

Before joining Wellington Partners, Regina headed the European life sciences activities of Boston-based Atlas Venture, where she was responsible for investments in U3 Pharma (acquired by Daiichi Sankyo), Novamed (acquired by Sciclone Pharmaceuticals), Nitec Pharma (merged with Horizon Pharma), F-Star (partially acquired by BMS) and Bicycle Therapeutics (IPO on NASDAQ in 2019).

Before that, from 2000 to 2004, at Apax Partners, she was responsible for healthcare investments in Germany and closely involved in the successful investment in Genmab. Prior to that, she worked at McKinsey and as a post-doctoral researcher at the Laboratory of Molecular Biology at MRC, Cambridge, UK. Regina holds an MSc in chemical engineering and a PhD in biochemistry from the University of Vienna, Austria.
